Varsity Girls Basketball Wins I8 Title

The Panthers hosted the Coldwater Cardinals Tuesday night in a 1st versus 2nd matchup in the I8. The Cardinals started the game hot from 3, making 3 of their first 4 attempts. The game was tied after the 1st quarter of play. Western responded with much tighter defense in the second quarter holding the Cardinals to just 5 points in the frame and extending their lead to 7 points by half.
The Panthers would hardly look back after the break. Coldwater got as close as 4 points in the second half, but only briefly. Western extended its lead back out to 8 points and held it there for the remainder of the game. Strong free throw shooting down the stretch sealed the win for the Panthers. The close out I8 play with a trip to Pennfield on Friday night.
