Second-Inning Spurt Lead Western High School Past Charlotte Junior Varsity Charlotte JV
Western High School defeated Charlotte Junior Varsity Charlotte JV 15-0 on Friday thanks in part to 11 runs in the second inning. Anna Pohl singled, scoring two runs, Mary Messer doubled, scoring two runs, Addie Yanovich drew a walk, scoring one run, Audrina Bisonet singled, scoring one run, Ava Buckland singled, scoring two runs, Taryn Sawyer drew a walk, scoring one run, and Messer drew a walk, scoring one run.
Western High School got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sawyer singled, Messer singled, Sidney Vanarman walked, and Lanie Syrek walked, each scoring one run.
Bisonet earned the win for Western High School. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one.
Western High School tallied 10 hits in the game. Messer led with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-2 on the day. Bisonet led Western with three hits in three at bats. Pohl collected two hits in two at bats. Western had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. Syrek, Vanarman, and Kaileigh Stiles led the team with two walks each. Sawyer, Pohl, and Stiles each stole multiple bases. Western stole 11 bases in the game. Western were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Pohl had the most chances in the field with four.

Western High School topped Charlotte Junior Varsity Charlotte JV 9-5 on Friday.
Western High School got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ava Buckland singled, and Taryn Sawyer walked, each scoring one run.
Western High School scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Addie Yanovich hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, Anna Pohl singled, scoring one run, and Sawyer grounded out, scoring two runs.
A ground out by Audrina Bisonet extended the Western lead to 9-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Lilly Purucker earned the win for Western
. The pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking 10.
Bisonet and Yanovich were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Western. Yanovich led Western with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Purucker paced Western High School with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Bisonet, Sawyer, Buckland, and Purucker each stole multiple bases for Western High School. Western High School stole 12 bases in the game. Western were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Sawyer had the most chances in the field with six.
