Both Western Middle School Track Teams defeated Hastings on Wednesday.  The Western Girls defeated Hastings, 102-59, while the Western Boys won by a score of 96.5-65.5.

Kylie VanCalbergh had a perfect day, winning both short sprint races and the Pole Vault.  VanCalbergh broke the school record in the 70 Meter Dash with a time of 9.85.  VanCalbergh ran a 13.63 to win the 100 Meter Dash and cleared 8’ in to win the Pole Vault, rounding out a 15-point day for the Panthers.

The Boys and Girls teams each won three of the four relay races.

Lucas Johnston, Derek Boldt, Kannon Kelch and Micah Good scored a come-from-behind victory to win the 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 4:19.92.  Logan Cristian, Leland Sowle, Josiah Rivera and Micah Good won the 4x800 Meter Relay with a time of 9:45.82, and Drago Djudjevic, Joel Toyer, Wyatt Griswold and Alexander Fausz won the 4x200 Meter Relay for Western with a time of 1:55.02.

Madisyn Blair, Whitney Parker, Harper Backinger and Zaviana Jackson combined to win the 4x400 Meter Relay with a time of 4:56.97.  The Lady Panthers won the 4x800 Meter Relay with a time of 12:08.72 behind Kennedi Baum, Whitney Parker, Harper Backinger and Alivia Stahley.  Zacariah Akines, Claire Kuhl, Mia Zischke and Georgia Addleman won the 4x200 Meter Relay with a time of 2:01.44.

Logan Young won the High Jump with a height of 5’2” and finished first in the 100 Meter Dash at 12.08.

Jett Archer won the 70 Meter Dash with a time of 8.94 and won the Long Jump with a distance of 16’3”.

Madisyn Blair won the 1600 Meter Run and the 800 Meter Run, with times of 5:46.77 and 2:46.82.  Claire Kuhl and Kennedi Baum rounded out the 1-2-3 finish in the 800 with times of 3:02.27 and 3:04.12.

Mallie Backinger, Bella Nowery and Mia Zischke went 1-2-3 in th3 200 Meter Dash with times of 31.65, 32.60 and 33.30 respectively.

Bella Nowery, Zaviana Jackson and Georgia Addleman went 1-2-3 in the 400 Meter Dash with times of 1:11.66, 1:11.73 and 1:14.64.

Zacariah Akines and Kiyami Eddy finished first and second in the 55 Meter Hurdles with times of 11.64 and 11.85.

Leland Sowle and Josiah Rivera finished 1-2 in the 800 Meter Run with times of 2:21.71 and 2:22.89.  Lucas Johhston finished fourth with a time of 2:39.57.

Micah Good, Brayden Watts and Dexter Rice finished 1-3-4 in the 1600 Meter Run.  Good finished with a time of 4:49.86, Watts at 6:40.74 and Rice at 6:55.17.

Logan Cristian and Leo Zhang finished first and third in the 3200 Meter Run with times of 10:58.93 and 13:38.24.

Dominique Galloway won the 200 Meter Dash (28.83) and finished second in the Long Jump (15’3”).

Alivia Staley won the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 14:32.96, and finished tied for third in the Long Jump with a distance of 12’4”.

Zaviana Jackson, Braelynn Schaffer and Staley finished 1-3-3 in the Long Jump, with Jackson jumping 14’5” and Schaffer jumping 12’4”.

Western scored 67 personal records on the day across all events.

Both teams climbed to 2-0 on the season in head-to-head meets.

Western Middle School Track runs again at Marshall on Monday.
